March 17: Four years of War on Iraq

The anti-war movement is neither anti-war nor a movement. Its pacifism means that it will not fight the bosses war by the methods of class war. It is useless and pathetic.

It resorts to marching and voting to put moral pressure on governments to “bring the troops home”. The election of the US Democrats who now endorse Bush’s new ‘surge’ to pacify Iraq proves this strategy is bankrupt.

It is not a movement because it stops the real opposition to war taking the form of a massive international general strike to incapacitate the imperialist war machine.

Nor does it back the victory of the anti-imperialist resistance unconditionally. Instead of defending Iraq and Iran from invasion without conditions, the Western left says that the resistance must be democratic before it can be supported.

So it puts moral reservations on the resistance led by Mullahs or Islamic ‘fundmentalists’ (some of whom were previously on the US payroll) while facing an imperialist enemy that locks up suspects in their Guantanamos, tortures them in their Abu Graibs, massacres them indiscriminately in their Fellujas, and bombs civilians in Southern Lebanon, Gaza and Nasraf!

To stop the US/UK/Australian war on Iraq and the imminent threat to attack Iran, we need to turn this bosses war for oil and the other spoils of empire into a revolutionary war to overthrow imperialism and capitalism.

To do this it is necessary to destroy the war machine by unleashing an international general strike against the war, by inciting mass desertions, and by arming the anti-imperialist resistance to defeat the invading, occupying armies.

In Aotearoa/NZ, the Labour Government refrained from joining the ‘coalition of the willing’ as it did not have UN authorisation. But that did not stop Labour endorsing the US-led ‘war on Terror’ and passing vicious ‘anti-terrorist’ laws to restrict our political rights.

Where the UN has passed resolutions authorizing the invasion of Afghanistan, and more recently in Iraq, NZ sent troops, engineers and so-called ‘peacekeepers’.

Most recently NZ has sent troops to Southern Lebanon as part of the UN ‘peacekeeping’ operation. Here NZ is participating in the imperialist occupation of Lebanon defending Israel from the mass popular armed resistance of Hizbollah.

· For an international general strike to force US/UK/Australian etc troops out of Iraq!

· UN/NATO troops out of Afghanistan, Palestine and Lebanon!

· Victory to the resistance fighters of Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Lebanon!

· Defend Iran from imperialist attack!

¡Huelga general para aplastar la máquina de guerra de Bush, Blair y Howard (primer ministro australiano, NT)!

El “movimiento anti-guerra” no es anti-guerra ni es un movimiento. Su pacifismo significa que no va a combatir contra la guerra de los patrones con los métodos de guerra de la clase obrera. Es algo inútil y patético.

Echa mano a marchas y votos para ejercer presión moral sobre los gobiernos para que “traigan las tropas a casa”. La elección de los Demócratas en los EEUU, que ahora apoyan el nuevo envío de tropas (“surge”) de Bush para pacificar Irak prueba la absoluta bancarrota de esta estrategia.

No es un movimiento porque sirve para evitar que la auténtica oposición a la guerra tome la forma de una huelga general internacional de masas que descalabre la maquinaria de guerra imperialista.

Tampoco apoya incondicionalmente la victoria de la resistencia antiimperialista. En cambio de defender a Irak e Irán contra la invasión en forma incondicional, la izquierda occidental dice que la resistencia primero debe ser democrática para que pueda ser apoyada.

Así, ¡coloca prerrequisitos morales sobre la resistencia conducida por los Mulás o los “fundamentalistas” islámicos (algunos de los cuales estuvieron previamente en la planilla de sueldos de los EEUU) que están enfrentando un enemigo imperialista que encierra bajo candado a sospechosos en sus Guantánamos, los tortura en sus Abu Graibs, los masacra indiscriminadamente en sus Falujas, y bombardea civiles en el sur del Líbano, en Gaza y en Nasraf!

Para parar la guerra yanqui-británica-australiana sobre Irak y la inminente amenaza de ataque a Irán, necesitamos transformar esta guerra de los patrones por petróleo y otros botines del imperio en una guerra revolucionaria para derrocar al imperialismo y al capitalismo.

Para esto es necesario destrozar la maquinaria de guerra desatando una huelga general internacional contra la guerra, incitando a las deserciones en masa, y armando a la resistencia antiimperialista para que derroten a los ejércitos invasores y ocupantes.
En Aotearoa/NZ, el gobierno laborista se cuidó de unirse a la “coalición de los dispuestos” porque la misma no tenía la autorización de las Naciones Unidas. Pero eso no evitó que el laborismo apoyara la “guerra contra el terrorismo” dirigida por los EEUU y que pasara perversas leyes “antiterroristas” para restringir nuestros derechos políticos.

Donde la ONU ha aprobado resoluciones autorizando la invasión, como en Afganistán, y más recientemente, en Irak, Nueva Zelanda ha enviado tropas, ingenieros y las así llamadas “fuerzas de paz”.

Lo ultimo que ha hecho Nueva Zelanda, hace muy poco, es enviar tropas al sur del Líbano como parte de la operación de “mantenimiento de la paz” de la ONU. Allí, NZ está participando en la ocupación imperialista de El Líbano, defendiendo a Israel de la resistencia popular armada de masas de Hizbolá.

¡Por una huelga general internacional para forzar a las tropas de EEUU, Gran Bretaña, Australia, etc. fuera de Irak!
¡Fuera las tropas de la ONU y la OTAN de Afganistán, Palestina y El Líbano!
¡Por la victoria de los luchadores de la resistencia en Irak, Afganistán, Palestina y El Líbano!
¡Defendamos a Irán del ataque imperialista!
